About Us

WPSMMP

Our program introduces young boys and men of color to string instruments within a cultural and educational context, harnessing the power of music as a form of literacy, peacekeeping, and cultural exploration.

The program has a multifaceted purpose. First, it aims to provide an enriching environment where young boys and men of color (in middle and high school) can discover and hone their musical talents. Second, it offers a structured rite of passage that instills values, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Finally, the program aims to leverage the healing power of music and restorative practices to mend damaged relationships and promote anti-violence, catalyzing positive change within the broader Philadelphia community.
